Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Dallas Team Behind Ashby Chimney Dallas
We’re a small crew by design. Every chimney sweep, inspector, and repair tech who walks through your door in Dallas works directly with Nathan Corliss, our owner, and trains under the same standard that’s kept us on Dallas rooftops since 2002. No subcontractors, no rotating cast of day laborers. The person who quotes your job is the same person who does the work, and the same person who signs the written guarantee when it’s done. That’s how we keep our word, and it’s how we keep our people.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Nathan Corliss, Owner
Nathan Corliss started sweeping chimneys in Dallas in 2002, back when most of his work came from Lakewood and M Streets homes with original masonry that hadn’t seen a brush in decades. He’s still the one who answers the harder inspection questions, and he still gets up on roofs most weeks, because that’s where you actually learn what a flue is doing. Nathan’s the person who decided every job gets a written price before work starts and a written guarantee when it’s finished. It wasn’t a marketing idea. It was a reaction to seeing too many Dallas homeowners get told they needed repairs nobody could verify. His rule from day one: if we can’t show you the camera footage, we don’t sell you the repair.
He’s a natural explainer. He’ll tell you a flue liner is “the clay or steel tube that vents combustion gases out of your home,” then wait for the question. His favorite finding is a creosote buildup with, as he puts it, “more layers than a Dallas spring forecast.” He’s also the reason our trucks stay clean, our uniforms stay pressed, and our sweepings never end up on your hearth rug.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us for eleven years, starting as an apprentice and working his way into the lead role through sheer stubbornness about doing the job right. He’s our primary chimney sweep and fireplace repair tech, and he handles most of the Level 2 camera inspections across Dallas, from Preston Hollow to Bishop Arts. Marcus is certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and has completed manufacturer training on DuraFlex and HeatShield liner systems.
He grew up in Mesquite, worked construction before chimneys, and can spot a flashing problem from the street. Marcus is the one who figured out that a recurring water leak in a North Dallas fireplace wasn’t the crown at all, but a gap in the chase cover that three previous companies had missed. He keeps a small notebook in his back pocket with measurements and flue dimensions from every job, which drives Nathan crazy and has saved us more than once.
Elena R., Service Coordinator
Elena is the voice on our phone line and the reason your appointment actually happens when we say it will. She’s been with Ashby Chimney Dallas for six years and knows every neighborhood in our service area well enough to route our techs through Dallas traffic without the usual chaos. She’s also the one who answers at odd hours, because our phones are staffed by a live person around the clock, no answering service runaround.
Before chimneys, Elena managed a dental office in Garland, and it shows. She’s particular about records, about scheduling buffers, and about making sure every customer gets their written quote in hand before we leave the driveway. She keeps a running file of job photos organized by address, which means if you call us three years after a sweep and want to know what your flue looked like, Elena will have it pulled up before you finish asking.
Devon W., Apprentice Sweep
Devon joined us two years ago after answering a trade-school job posting, and he’s the newest face on the truck. He’s working through his CSIA certification hours under Marcus and Nathan, and he handles the unglamorous side of the trade: chimney cap replacements, firebox clean-out, and hauling roof equipment up Dallas two-story ladders. He’s fast, careful, and still in the phase where every creosote buildup is either “not that bad” or “you have to see this.”
Devon grew up near White Rock Lake and spent summers working at his uncle’s roofing company, so heights don’t bother him. What does bother him, he’ll tell you, is a dirty drop cloth. He owns the clean-up standard on every job now, and he takes it personally. He’s also the best of us at talking to nervous dogs, which matters more than you’d think when you’re tromping through someone’s living room in work boots.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Ashby Chimney location is independently owned and operated under the Kingswell Guarantee, and the Dallas team carries that standard the way Nathan has since 2002. It means the same five values on every single job, which we call the Kingswell Way: say the price, show up in the window, leave it cleaner, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails. The materials we install, DuraFlex and HeatShield liners, Gelco and Olympia Chimney components, Famco caps, Copperfield supplies, are the same brands any serious chimney company in Texas should be using. Nobody on our crew gets to skip the camera inspection and nobody gets to sell a repair without proof. The written guarantee covers every repair we make, for as long as the guarantee period on your paperwork says, and if a covered repair fails inside that window, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and around here, it’s just how we work. Call (361) 314-3193 and you’ll get one of us, not a call center.
